Tena Koutou. Firstly I would like to acknowledge my colleague Annie Sprat who volunteered to do our karakia and mihi whakatau for our group. This is the first time she has led or even attempted this, no reira ka pai Annie, e mihi ana.
Today out guest speaker was Kent Somerville from Pt England School, Auckland. He took us through a 'Deep Dive'. He showed us how to use the Live Streaming function and what tools you can also use. eg Sports days, using drones and broadcasting to various mediums. We also learn't the various tools and functions of YouTube. Our class now has a YouTube channel and music playlist. I also now know how to embed music likes 😃. Thank you Kent!
Vicky introduced us to Google Draw, Explore and Google Slides. We were given some sandpit time to create and get used to using these tools. Having time to use/play is VERY IMPORTANT!
Something I throughly enjoyed and will try in the near future are the electronic model books which Kent showed us. I am also going to spend time to put about 75% of my planning onto Google Docs and Google Slides. Watch this space!

Kia ora Kahura,
ReplyDeleteThank you for acknowledging Annie, what a lovely start to your blog post! Well done on creating a youtube channel and playlist. Have you been using these in your classroom? I'm sure your students will love it! How have you got on with digitising your planning? I hope it's working well for you. I'd love to have a look when I see you next.
Ngā mihi nui
Vicki
