During our DFI sessions networking has been evident. To get together with local teachers in this forum and discussing technology, our schools and our community has been amazing. We are creating and forming life long friendships and professional networks.

Hangout: Dorothy spoke about using the term 'Empowerment' not 'Agency'
(Empowering vs Dis-empowering) - An example she used was The Good Guys clothing company
who sell new clothing out of a truck with super high interests rates making the items more expensive.
She also talked about whānau going to the doctors etc because they have the same GP for years.
When the GP leaves so does the tie between them and the whānau. State Housing is an issue in most
towns and cities. The lack of rental homes available, expensive rent and not having the basic
living.

Class Sites - We had a look at a variety of class sites. The purpose was to get ideas to help us
form our own sites.

Why Google Sites - Using a Classroom site

• Why are we doing this??? -

- We use these as a platform for our children. So tauira and their parents can access their learning and what they are doing in classes.

- To be informative.

- To communicate and share our learning.

We spent most of the day creating our own sites. The goal is to have this visible and operating by Week 1 of Term 4......Watch this space.
